(Local Quality Enhancement Cell QIMS)

1. Aim:

            To contribute to the development of the society and the country through promotion of Quality Higher Education. 

 

2. Objective:

             To remain committed to the attainment of higher standards in teaching, learning and research, at par with the international standards.

  

3.Job Description:

              a)To promote public confidence that the Quality and standards of the award of degreesregularly assessed& improved.

    b) To review the quality standards and the quality of teaching and learning in each subject area.

    c) To review the academic affiliations with other institutions in terms of effective management of standards and quality of programs.

    d) To define clear and explicit standards as points of reference to the Qualityreviews. This helps the prospective employers for getting clear expectation from QIMS graduates.

    e) To develop program specifications. These are standard set ofthat lays down what knowledge, understanding, skills and other attributes a student should develop on successfully completing MBBS.

    f) To develop quality assurance processes and methods of evaluation to ensure that the qualityeducation and the standards of awards of degrees & honors are being properly maintained. And kept under constant review the Curricula, Syllabi &Faculty development with other scholarly activities as pointed by Quality Assurance activities like Self-Appraisal proforma’s & Report.

    g) To ensure that the university’s quality assurance procedures are in line with Quality Assurance Agency (QAA),for improving and maintaining the quality of higher education.


4. Responsibilities and Functions:

                  The Local Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) is to be headed by a Manager reporting directly to Principal and Vice principal/Comdt. He is to be the correspondent with the outside bodies.

    a) L.QEC is responsible for promoting public confidence that the quality and standards of the award of degrees are enhanced and safeguardedb)L.QEC is responsible for the review of quality standards and the quality of teaching and learning in each subject area.      c) L.QEC is responsible for defining clear and explicit standards as points of reference to the reviews to be carried out. It should also help the employees to know as to what they could expect from candidates. 

   d) L.QEC is responsible to develop qualifications framework by setting out the attributes and abilities that can be expected from the holder of a qualification 

   e) L.QEC is responsible to develop program specifications. These are standard set of information clarifying what knowledge, understanding, skills and other attributes a student will have developed on successfully completing a specific program.

   f) L.QEC is responsible to develop quality assurance processes and methods of evaluation to affirm that the quality of provision and the standard of awards are being maintained and to foster curriculum, subject and staff development, together with research and other scholarly activities.

  g) L.QEC is responsible to ensure that the QIMS quality assurance procedures are designed to fit in with the arrangements in place nationally for maintaining and improving the quality of Higher Education.

  h) L.QEC is responsible to interact with all departments before initiating and compiling implementation plan.

 

5. JOB Duties of Local Quality Enhancement

 

L.QEC is responsible to develop procedures for the internal quality assurance (IQA) and External quality assurance (EQA) with Quality Assurance department NUMS.

  

a. Self-Appraisal Performa

   4.Faculty Satisfaction Surveys

   5.Faculty Resume

 

 

b. L-QEC will collect and review the results taken after feedback, along with summary and with implementation plan taken from dept.    HoD,s will put up to Comdt. and Principal and then to NUMS QA.

cInteraction with all basic and clinical departments for feedback and appraisal report.

d. Interaction and correspondence with department HoD,s and program team on completion of specific module / block.

e. Regular correspondence with NUMS, Quality Assurance department (QA) after analysis of feedback.

fAnnual monitoring and evaluation including program monitoring, faculty monitoring, and student’s perception.

g. Nomination and re-nomination of program team.

hInstitutional assessment, faculty resume and employer feedback at the end of year.

i.  Quarterly Progress Report.

j.  Yearly progress report.

k. Training / workshops at Faculty level.

lCollege Portfolio Report Data Collection and Record Keeping.

m. Interaction and Linkage between affiliated Colleges and NUMS.
