Department of Psychiatry caters for a wide variety of psychiatric and psychological trauma cases, including post traumatic stress and substance abuse disorders. The department encompasses wide range of entities. Special attention is paid to the understanding of common psychological problems, as seen in clinical practice. Attention is also given to community psychiatry, where medical students will participate to gain clinical experience on psychiatric patients. They would learn to take case history and conduct mental status examination. There is a psychosocial center which undertakes non-pharmacological interventions like psychotherapy, psychometry and runs workshops on common behavioral illness.
