QUETTA INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES is located in the cantonment area of Quetta within the premises of Combined Military Hospital. Institution’s building and atmosphere are hallmark of sound academic environment in the serene valley. Quetta is the capital of Balochistan, the largest province of Pakistan. Balochistan has a rich cultural heritage and is blessed with immense natural resources. In the pre-partition era, Quetta was known as Little London, because of its beauty, cleanliness and orchards.
The city in the present day has been changed into a centre of education, trade, commerce and business, as well as political hub of the province.
The valley of Quetta is situated at an altitude of 5,500 feet above sea level. Visitor’s
attractions like Hanna Lake, Urak Valley, Spin Tangi, Shahban and Ziarat are located close to Quetta.
Establishment of QIMS has marked the beginning of a new era of advanced medical
education in the province. The institute was envisaged as project to enhance medical training facilities in the region, both at undergraduate and post graduate levels. QIMS is committed to address pivotal issues of health care and impart quality education to students, reflecting principles of humanity, dedication, compassion and selfless service. The college draws upon the strength of CMH Quetta which is one of the largest Tertiary Care Center in the region.
College of Nursing is added to QIMS complex which is imparting BSc Nursing Degree. At present 4 batches of MBBS & 2 batches of nursing students graduated from QIMS / Nursing college respectively.
QIMS is recognized by PM&DC in year 2012. Acknowledgment of the commitment and efforts of the staff and faculty has been demonstrated by the fact that the institution achieved international accreditation by FAIMER (Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research) and is listed in the WHO Directory of the Medical Colleges within one year of its establishment. Its affiliated teaching hospital CMH Quetta is recognized by CPSP for postgraduate training in multiple specialties.

It is a matter of great pride and privilege for me to welcome the 10th batch of students to the Quetta Institute of Medical Sciences (QIMS). This college has been custom built by a team of highly skilled and motivated professionals who have left no stone unturned in ensuring that the medical students are well equipped with knowledge and skills. Infrastructure and equipments are of highest standard meeting national and international standards. I, and my very able team of professional faculty members and admin staff have had the privilege of witnessing and assisting the success of the college and we made sure that all academic and other needs of the students and the faculty are taken care of.
Quetta Institute of Medical Sciences (QIMS) aims to fulfill the needs of the people in the Balochistan region seeking quality medical education and health services. With excellent facilities and a faculty comprising highly educated and experienced health professionals and teachers, the college has the objective of producing efficient and competent health professionals capable of providing quality healthcare to the people and adding to the body of scientific knowledge in the field of health by promoting research.
Quetta Institute of Medical Sciences (QIMS) has spacious lecture halls, a state-of-the-art skill lab, laboratories equipped with latest instruments and machines, tutorial rooms, a well-stocked library with facility of accessing e-book and journals, departmental libraries, museums having latest models and specimens, ample hostel accommodation within the cantt and facilities for indoor and outdoor extra-curricular activities. Our approach QIMS is not only to provide holistic and inter-disciplinary learning experience to the students but also to guide and encourage them to become good human beings and responsible citizens. Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Quetta is annexed with QIMS a well-equipped tertiary care hospital of the Pakistan Armed Forces. This Hospital is located adjacent to the college and is part of the QIMS. Looking back, last few months at QIMS have been quite challenging in terms of coping with COIVD-19 pandemic. However, dynamic faculty of QIMS was actively engaged in organizing online classes to ensure continuity in our students learning. I can assure the students that our institute will continue to provide them with top quality education.

Every year it is heartening to see, thousands of students flock to Quetta Institute of Medical Sciences (QIMS) seeking admission in MBBS. Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Quetta, a well-equipped tertiary care hospital of the Pakistan Armed Forces with 600 beds is annexed with QIMS. The teaching hospital of Quetta institute of Medical Sciences aims at provision of utmost and excellent quality health care to all the patients in the hospital, which has very efficient team of qualified doctors in all the disciplines of medicine & allied and surgery & allied. The hospital is well equipped with the latest lab facilities. We believe that, the strength of an Institute lies in its team! At the college, we have a team of highly qualified and experienced faculty, ably supported by an equally dedicated staff. The efforts and hard work of the team and staff have taken the college to new heights.
Not only that, QIMS has garnered many recognitions in conferences, organizing workshops with national faculty, Students have been selected to present scientific papers at the national level conferences.
