1. The research symposium at Wah Medical College that was held on 8 June 2024. More than 400 abstracts were submitted from all over Pakistan out of which 33 were selected for oral presentation and 44 were selected for poster presentation.
2. QIMS students also submitted abstracts for said symposium. 3 abstracts were selected from QIMS, Quetta. Out of which, one was selected for oral presentation and two were selected for poster presentation. The topics selected were as follows:
- A comparative cross-sectional study of evaluation of patients satisfaction in cardiac ER of tertiary care hospitals of Quetta city
- Pregnant women’s knowledge about birth defects and their associated risk factors in Quetta.
- Measuring and comparing readiness for self-directed learning among preclinical and clinical medical students
3. The research supervisor for the selected topics was Dr. Zainab Omer. This activity was conducted under the umbrella of Community medicine department of QIMS, Quetta and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Rukhsana Majid and Dr. Zainab Omer.
4. The event was attended by medical students from all over Pakistan. QIMS was the only college that was selected for participation from Balochistan. Ideas were exchanged between medical students and commitments for future collaboration were made among researchers from all over Pakistan. The students of QIMS felt a sense of accomplishment and pride for representing their college at a national level and they had a confidence boost from presenting their research findings in front of different people.
